Praying For Non-Christians

Gen 47:7,10 Then Joseph brought in his father, Jacob, and presented him to Pharaoh. And Jacob blessed Pharaoh...  Then Jacob blessed Pharaoh again before leaving his court.

Pharaoh was kind to Jacob and his family so Jacob asked God to bless him. We are all called to intercede in prayer for others.Charles Spurgeon oncesaid, “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms wrapped about their knees, imploring them to stay. If Hell must be filled, let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go unwarned and unprayed for.”

James 5:16b The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Jesus does the seeking and the Holy Spirit opens their heart. If you want to see someone’s heart healed and their eternal future secured, you must be praying. Typically, our unsaved loved ones would likely come to Christ if they were free of Satan’s strongholds and strongholds can only be broken down by the divine power of God. Now you may say, but they will not talk with me, so how can they receive the truth?Matthew 9:38 tells us to "pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields."

You can pray that your friend or loved one will receive the truth and pray that other Christians will be brought into their lives that will have an influence over them. People often get discouraged when their loved ones do not get saved and give up too soon. Prayers prayed with faith can be powerful in the lives of your unsaved relatives and friends. Don’t give up, God is busy encouraging them, even if it doesn’t look that way to you.  Remember, your prayers may be their only hope.

Sample Prayer:

Father, in Jesus’ name, I surrender ________ to you and I pray that you would open their heart to your salvation, protecting them from the enemy. Lord, I ask that You fill _______ with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.  As I intercede on their behalf, I believe the power of the Holy Spirit is activated, and from this moment on, I shall praise and thank You for _______’s salvation. Amen.
